VIRTUAL WORLD GOLD AND EUROPEAN TITLE FOR LOCAL TAEKWONDO COACH!

It’s a testing time for all sports ,but a virtual lifeline was handed out to practitioners of the sport of taekwondo as the European Taekwondo Federation hosted the first ever Online WTE Daedo Open European forms championships 2020 , to be held over the 4th and 10th of May in the arts discipline of Poomsae forms and the Argentine Taekwondo Federation held the first Samjoko Won Open world Championships 2020 !
Stoke UTAs World European and Commonwealth medallist master Peter Johnson rose to the challenge and entered himself, and his female champion Kacey Titled into these historic competitions!
Over 1200 competitors from 75 country’s entered Inaugural European competition! The tournament was organised so that the players filmed their performances and submitted to the organisers to be marked virtually by top panels of International referees from all over the world and was to be broadcast live on four YouTube virtual links , and over 500 in the Samjoko Kwon Argentinian World Event !
Poomsae, forms are a discipline that relies on individual skill and performance, so it suits the virtual format, and most importantly keeps myself and my students engaged at home training hard to continue our competition cycle throughout the season!
Master Johnson got through to the Final eight players in which was to be a tough division, with players from the USA, Germany, Spain, Finland, Portugal and Argentina all vying for medals in the final , and took an amazing silver medal place just narrowly missing out on gold the James Park from the USA !
The European competition was held over seven days with different divisions every day Master Johnson was competing in the Dan Grade U65 years Division and Young Kacey Titley aged 13 from smallthorne in the Dan Grade Cadet U14 Division , who competed on the second day of the competition in a massive category of over 70 players , Kacey went through the Preliminary rounds but just missed out on the final eight by one place , but never the less a great performance and Kacey still keeping her standard up during this testing time !
Master Johnson competed on the last day of the competition in a final that featured some new and talented players , nearing the end of the under sixty five age division , and moving up next year into the over 65 years , divisions he was the oldest in the group !
In the Samjokwon World Championships, held a week later Master Johnson took Gold in a strong field , players from Argentina , Spain and young Stoke UTA star Kacey Titley made it to the final just missing out on a Bronze medal by one place !
