Para-Taekwondo to be demonstrated at the IWAS World Junior Games 2014 at Stoke Mandeville.

IWAS has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) to promote Para-Taekwondo among amputee and wheelchair athletes.

The MOU was signed by IWAS President Mr Paul Depace and on behalf of the WTF his counterpart President Chungwon Choe.

As part of the MOU, IWAS will actively contribute to the development of Para-Taekwondo  and Classification for the fast growing sport.

Cooperation to examine what modifications to the field of play and competition regulations, procedures and classification system was also agreed. This is to find a way to best serve the development of Para-Taekwondo in competition between wheelchair and amputee/limb deficiency athletes.

With Para-Taekwondo being one of two new sports that the IPC have advanced to the second phase of consideration to be included in the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games the WTF is keen to take every possibility to promote the sport. Therefore a demonstration of the sport will take place during the IWAS World Junior Games 2014 that will be held in Stoke Mandeville (UK) in August 2014.

The WTF have also agreed to continue the sport development to fulfil all requirements for inclusion on the program of the 2015 IWAS World Games.
